Premiered in 2015, the stunning theatrical work +51 Aviación San Borja by Yudai Kamisato reflects the author’s journey juxtaposed against the lives of Japanese immigrants in Latin America. The play garnered much attention at the Sydney Festival, the Kunstenfestivaldesarts in Brussels, and the Festival d’Automne à Paris. Venue: Teater Salihara Jakarta; showtime: September 6 at 8pm; tickets: Rp75,000. 

On September 8, “Soundrenalin 2018: The Soul of Expression” will light up the skies at Bali’s newest iconic venue, Garuda Wisnu Kencana, with a string of top musicians like Sheila On 7, Padi Reborn, Bara Suara, and Limp Bizkit. The musical fête will rock fans from 2pm until the wee hours of the morning. Tickets: Rp300,000.

Success on screen encouraged Dimensi Production to present the love story of BJ Habibie and Hasri Ainun in the form of a classical opera written and directed by Purwa Tjaraka with choreography by Ari Tulang on September 15. Venue: Teater Jakarta, Taman Ismail Marzuki; showtime: 8pm; tickets: Rp400,000 and Rp1.4m.

Seventeen, aka SVT, the 13-member K-Pop group famous for having a “Hip-Hop Unit”, “Vocal Unit”, and “Performance Unit”, will slake the thirsts of avid fans on September 16 with their “Ideal Cut” concert at ICE BSD City.  Showtime: 6:30 pm; tickets: Rp1.6m and Rp2.4m.

Galeri Nasional, the National Gallery in Jakarta, in collaboration with UNHCR, will stage a week-long painting exhibition entitled “Art for Refuge: The Exhibition” from September 20 in Halls B and C. The happening will convey the narratives, ideas, and cultural values expressed by refugee children. Showtime: 10am-7pm; admission: free.

 In response to the love and support of their ardent fans in Indonesia, dynamic K-Pop sensations BtoB will rock Jakarta on September 21 at The Kasablanka Hall. The concert, organised by My Music Taste, will swing from 7pm until 10pm. Tickets Rp850,000-Rp2.8m.

Get ready for another night of the world’s most exciting martial arts action on September 22, as the huge Asian event returns to the Jakarta Convention Center. “One Championship Conquest of Heroes” will feature Indonesia’s fiercest warriors vying for supremacy. Tickets: Rp150,000-Rp1,380,000; showtime: 7pm-12am.
