Each month, the Ciné-Macet by Institute Français Indonesia provides an alternative to enjoying Jakarta's jams. The Embassy of Italy and the Italian Cultural Institute Jakarta are presenting Andrea Marcelli—world-class jazz drummer, composer, arranger, producer and clarinetist—in collaboration with the Sjuman School of Music. Motion Blue Jakarta, at the Fairmont Hotel Jakarta, is pampering music lovers at the end of this month. Gugun Blues Shelter will play from May 27 to 28, and will stage a special collaboration with Baim on the 27th. British electronic duo, Disclosure, is slated to perform in Jakarta headlining for DGTL LVE 2016 on May 4. Taking place at Eco Park Convention Center in Ancol, Jakarta, the music festival described itself as a "brand new indoor electronic music experience". The Grammy-nominated Disclosure, brothers Howard and Guy Lawrence, is known for their collaboration with pop stars such as Sam Smith and Lorde. 

Modern, three-dimensional artworks by Budi Adi Nugroho, Faisal Habibi, and Octora Chan will be featured in a group exhibition of Contemporary Sculpture entitled “Kait Kelindan”. Venue: Salihara Gallery; from May 1 to May 15; Monday-Sunday 11am-10pm, Sunday 11am-3pm.  

Manifesto, the Indonesian art biennale, this year features a central theme of Arus, or Being Current. The art happening, held at Halls A and B of the National Gallery in Jakarta, celebrates the May 20 National Awakening Day and runs until May 30; Tuesday-Sundays 7am-4pm. 

On May 5, DreamWorks’ wild musical adventure “Madagascar Live!” is zooming out of the zoo for three nights and onto the stage of the Indonesia Convention and Exhibition (ICE) in Serpong. Sorak Gemilang Entertainment and 7Kings Productions have set the tickets at Rp 185,000-Rp 1,010,000. 

Also on May 5, Ciputra Artpreneur is proud to bring Broadway super-hit "Shrek the Musical" to entertain kids of all ages in Jakarta, the first stop in Asia of its international tour. Tickets for the 2-hours-plus show range from Rp 180,000 to Rp 2,950,000. 

M83, the French electronic music band led by Anthony Gonzales, is slated to hold a concert in Jakarta at Lapangan D, Gelora Bung Karno. The group from Antibes, France, has released six studio albums, including Grammy 2011 nominee Hurry Up, We're Dreaming. Showtime: 8pm; date: May 21.

A scion of the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival, the Ubud Food Festival (UFF) is ready to pamper the taste buds of gastronomes from all over the world in this lush setting. Featuring local and international chefs, UFF will also tell the diverse stories and cultural life of the archipelago. Date: May 27.
