Nightlife Updates (Halloween Edition):

On October 28, Ling Ling and Bauhaus are hosting a series of Halloween party in their nearby venues at The East building, Kuningan. The night will start at Ling Ling with Madame Ling’s casino and continue to Bauhaus with “Haus of Wax” until late hour. Also, prepare to be enchanted by “Lucy in Underland” party at Lucy in the Sky this October 29th; trippy music and fun night await you!

Lola Jakarta is hosting “Stranger Things” party on October 29th at their venue; bringing DJ Max Essa from Japan to spin some sick tunes, but not before DJ Bergas warmed up the night. Meanwhile, FŪJIN is inviting guests to savour the night with “Cocktail Parlour” on the same day with David J as the guest DJ. If you are in the SCBD area, don’t forget to drop by Chamber who is hosting “Hallowine” on October 31st from 9pm onwards. The party will be hosted by Chef Rinrin Marinka (our interview with the chef can be found here) and will feature gruesome face-painting, spooky but delicious sangria along with upbeat tunes from DJ Pixie and DJ Zee Zans.

In Kuningan area, Basque Bar de Tapas is hosting “Day of the Dead” party on October 29 with DJ Jeremy Jay from 9pm onwards. While, the newly relocated The Safehouse is inviting guests for two nights Halloween parties on October 28 and 29th with a total of six DJs performances. Another Día de Muertos party can be found at Immigrant Jakarta with a special performance by Dreesquad Dance Company on October 29th.

Halloween comes early at Hotel Mulia Senayan's CJs restaurant on October 29th, where a Suicide Squad-theme party will be held followed by a live music performance from Ice Kold Band and DJ Discogusto. Also, don't forget to participate in blood drinking competition and win some prizes! 

Erasmus Huis is inviting guests to see comedian Nabil Ayad Aoulad’s "Tijdmachine" on October 27. The Dutch comedian will do a stand-up with topics such as musical talent and 90s nostalgic feeling. Time: 7.30-11pm.

For those looking for a healthy activity, a visit to Burgreens on October 29 and 30 is a must. In conjunction with its Express Green Opening and Union Yoga's 2nd Bday, they are hosting “Kumpul Akhir Pekan” featuring an all-day yoga classes, farmer and artisan market and slow-living workshops. Time: 8am.

Artoz Bar at The Energy Building is hosting a special Jazz Session on October 28th at 8pm onwards. The show will see the performance from Sri Hanugra Trio and Dira Sugandi along with special guest Alex Sipiagin.

Meanwhile, Hard Rock Café Jakarta is also hosting Halloween Weekend for kids on October 31st and November 1 at their venue in Pacific Place. The event will feature face-painting for the little ones and plenty of sweet treats and awards for the best costumes!

Potato Head returns with its Sunday Farmers’ Market Halloween-themed! On October 30, guests can come and select fresh fruits and vegetables, local handmade goods along with children’s Halloween 3D forest diorama workshop. Time: 10-4pm.

Salihara Community is hosting its second performing art festival called SIPFest from today until November 6th. The festival will present 14 performances made up of choreography, musical and plays by local and international artists, such as Ingun Bjørnsgaard dance company from Norway who will be presenting their dance performance Praembulum on October 15 and 16; The Human Zoo Theatre Company from England will be staging two performance on October 12, while on October 13 Malaysian leading contemporary music producer, Chong Kee Yong, will be staging its musical concert featuring Balinese dancers and music instruments from Asia.

Fashion lovers should not miss Jakarta Fashion Week 2017, which will return once again from October 22 to 28 at Senayan City. This year will feature numerous of talented Indonesian designers showcasing their new collections, such as Tex Saverio, Dian Pelangi, Anne Avantie, Sapto Djojokartiko and Jeffry Tan, to name a few, along with celebrated local fashion labels, including Major Minor, I.K.Y.K and ALEX[A]LEXA.  This year will also see Face of JFW as the event’s spokesperson and ambassador, as well as fashion link black venue: a pop-up market showcasing the designers’ creations.

On October 7th, be inspired and drive your clients to success by visiting the largest fitness show in Southeast Asia, Goifex 2016. This one-stop event for fitness and health clubs, professionals and gym buffs will open its doors at JIExpo Kemayoran for three days and will feature exclusive sports apparel and accessories.  

The Agriculture Food and Rural Affair Ministry is hosting Indonesia K-Food Fair from today up to October 9th. Held at Kota Kasablanka mall, the food exhibition will feature a myriad of Korean foods as well as seminars, conferences, cultural experience zone and K-Pop performance, boy band group B.I.G will be performing. 

Pop culture idol Grace Jones is bringing her Nu Wave Post Disco music to Bali at Potato Head Beach Club on October 8. The Studio 54 icon popular for her androgynous look will feature Iggy Pop and David Bowie’s “Nightclubbing”, Roxy Music’s “Love is the Drug” and Sting’s “Demolition Man” among other hits. Not stopping there, the iconic DJ Harvey is flying all the way from Great Britain to play at the afterparty.

On October 12, a seminal figure in the emergence of indie rock and Britpop, Stephen Patrick Morrissey will quench the thirst of his fans at Gelora Bung Karno Sports Complex, Senayan, Jakarta. Tickets: Regular Rp 800,000 and VIP Rp 1,500,000 available at Kiostix; show time: 7pm.

Enjoy the angelic voices of the world’s most popular boys’ choir, Die Wiener Sängerknaben on October 15. For the first time in Indonesia, the Vienna Boys’ Choir will perform a full concert at Ciputra Artpreneur Theater Jakarta for two days. The 31st Trade Expo Indonesia returns from October 12th to 16th at JIExpo, Kemayoran, Indonesia. After last year’s success, the B2B tradeshow will again showcase wide-range of best Indonesian products from automotive components, cosmetics, metal products, pharmaceuticals, sporting goods, stationary and textile based products direct from 1000 companies.

Coffee lovers rejoice! A Bunch of Caffeine Dealers (ABCD) School of Coffee teamed up with Hype to present Jakarta Coffee Week on October 15 to 16. Held at HYPE Land in Pantai Indah Kapuk, the event will feature a numerous coffee-related programmes and workshops like coffee roasting, decorating and plating chocolate tonka cake and chocolate tasting, among others.

Indonesia’s legendary boy band Dewa 19 is ready to quench the thirst of avid fans on October 19 with a string of top chart hits. The Embassy of Italy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Jakarta teamed up with Ciputra Artpreneur and presents a dance performance entitled “I Bislacchi. A Tribute to Fellini” by Italian contemporary dance company Artemis Danza. Held on October 21, the event will pay homage to Italian film director Federico Fellini with their imaginative and poetic dance number interpretation.

Nightlife Update (October 21)FŪJIN - Teppanyaki & Japanese Whisky is hosting another TOKYO AFTER DARK vol.3 party from 9.30 pm until 1 am where DJ Jeremy Jay will be spinning out groovy tunes; Queenshead presents Chocolate High #2 where 80s, 90s and old school hip hop tunes will be played by Ethnic, Stan, T-Sha, Endru & Mdee from 9pm onwards; Loewy at Oakwood Premier Cozmo is celebrating its 8th anniversary with “Hotel Loewy” this Friday and has invited British DJ Sigala for entertainment from 9pm onwards.

Men alert! +Boys Market exhibition is held again for its third time this year at two different venues. The first one will be held at Kota Kasablanka on October 18-23 and at Gandaria City in November. The exhibition dubbed as “all about boys” will offer a myriad of different men’s products, from fashion, automotive, art and hobbies, such as custom bike show a pop-up barber.

Halloween is approaching fast and for that Three Buns in Senopati is gearing up for the festival with children’s workshop decorating masks on October 23. Bring your precious ones to the event (age from 4-8 years old) and let them have fun decorating assortment of masks and sampling tasty treats afterwards. Ticket fee: Rp 300,000; Time: 1-2Pm.

Another week welcomes another exhibition. Pekan Raya Indonesia will start on October 20 up to November 6 at ICE in BSD City. The 3-week exhibition will offer a wide-range of products from shopping, entertainment, recreation and education. Visitors will have chance to shop from many local brands, sample plenty of Indonesian dishes, and watch live music performance from 1,000 bands taking five different stages. Among the big names are Kotak, Slank, Raisa, Tulis and Samsons.
