For the first time, the Swiss luxury watch manufacturer presented the IWC Filmmaker Award to three nominees: Chloé Zhao, Anahita Ghazvinizadeh and Abu Bakr Shawky. Their works left an impression on the jury members, which included Paula Weinstein, EVP of Tribeca Enterprise; Amy Hobby, Executive Director of the Tribeca Film Institute; Matt Ruskin, last year’s award winner; and Christoph Grainger-Herr. Other than the awards, the exclusive event also saw the performance of the Tony- and Grammy Award-winning Cynthia Erivo.

Hosted by comedian Samantha Bee, the gala dinner entertained more than 170 guests including actresses and models such as Rosamund Pike, Uma Thurman, Taylor Schilling, Adriana Lima and Karolina Kurkova.
The co-founders of the Tribeca Film Festival, Jane Rosenthal, Robert De Niro, and Craig Hatkoff, along with Christina Ricci, Josh Lucas, and Alice Eve as well as Ryan Eggold, were also added to the roster of A-listers who were at the event.
As a watchmaker, IWC Schaffhausen understands the high degree of dedication and craftsmanship that goes into crafting something that one can connect with, hence its dedication to support both up-and-coming and established filmmakers through the awards.
