BMW Indonesia is introducing the first-ever BMW M2 Coupé in the country. Setting a fresh benchmark in dynamic potency and agility in the compact high-performance sports car segment, the all-new BMW M2 Coupé offers motorsport technology for both the road and the race track. At the same time, it provides proof that M is still the most powerful letter in the world.

“M stands for motorsport and M stands for emotion,” said Karen Lim, President Director BMW Group Indonesia. “The long-awaited BMW M2 Coupé represents a new entry point for the BMW M family, and this remarkable vehicle makes an extremely powerful statement in the expanding and fiercely contested compact high-performance segment. There is no doubt in my mind that BMW will win over many new and younger customers with this vehicle.”

Since 1972, the BMW M series has seen numerous legends that went on to conquer the hearts of motorsport fans across the world. These included the classic BMW 2002 Turbo, which was one of the most emotionally rich cars of its time as well as the first series-produced European car to feature a turbocharger.

“It has been over 40 years now since the BMW 2002 turbo set the benchmark for driving dynamics and agility. Then, as now, the aim was to offer our cherished customers sheer driving pleasure in a compact design. Now the car so many people have been waiting for has arrived,” added Karen.

A single glance is all it takes to establish the all-new BMW M2 Coupé as a member of the BMW M family. Its subtle sense of style also complements its dynamic attributes. Inspired by models from the history of BMW in motor racing, the all-new BMW M2 Coupé makes no secret of its extraordinary performance potential.

The low front apron with large air intakes, muscular flanks with characteristic M gills plus the 19-inch aluminum wheels in familiar M double-spoke design along with the low, wide rear with the M-specific twin-tailpipe exhaust system all play impressive roles here. The classic character of BMW M cars is not only present but prominent in the design of the interior.

Fitted with the seven-speed M Double Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic, the all-new BMW M2 Coupé  is capable of delivering a maximum output of 370hp and peak torque of 465Nm from 1,400 to 5,560rpm, with an overboost function that can raise the maximum torque up to 500Nm (+35Nm) from 1,450 to 4,750rpm. This formidable road machine can propel itself from 0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds thanks to the innovative M TwinPower Turbo technology.

The roots of the BMW M family lie in motor racing, as highlighted by the dynamic talent of all BMW M models. Carrying on this tradition, the all-new BMW M2 Coupé sets the pace in its segment when it comes to agility, driving feeling, directional stability, steering precision and controllability at the limit, without the driver sacrificing anything in everyday use.

Furthermore, in order to transfer the car’s dynamic potential to the road as effectively as possible, the development of specific tyres for the all-new BMW M2 Coupé was incorporated into the axle construction from the outset. A certain set of factors takes priority here—especially when dealing with a high-performance sports car.

For example, a lot is asked of the front wheels in terms of lateral stability, directional stability, steering feel and steering precision, while the rear wheels are called on to deliver optimal traction, lateral stability and directional stability. With this in mind, the BMW M development engineers decided to fit the all-new BMW M2 Coupé with aluminium wheels and mixed-profile tyres.

The all-new BMW M2 Coupé will be available at BMW‘s authorised dealers from May 2016 priced at Rp 1,349,000,000.
