Hollywood celebrated another achievement for TV with the 68th Primetime Emmy Awards. Held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, the evening was filled with stirring speeches, great-looking celebrities and plenty of surprises as many of the fan-favourite TV shows won big (read: Game of Thrones, Mr Robot and Orphan Black).
The award ceremony may be the pinnacle of the evening, but the highlight of the Emmys is still its red carpet frenzy, where our favourite celebrities made heads turn and jaws drop with everything from fresh-off-the-runaway looks to elegant haute couture pieces. Here are some of our favourite picks!
Priyanka Chopra and Emily Ratajkowski are the two of the names that stole the limelight. The Quantico star dazzled in her red one-shoulder gown by Jason Wu and was seen twirling her dress’ train on the red carpet that sent the crowd into madness. The latter, a model and an actress, showed her prowess in a gorgeous sapphire blue Zac Posen’s dress matched with deep smoky-blue eye makeup.
Television darling Claire Danes arrived in a glittering gold Schiaparelli number, while The American’s actress Keri Russell was seen in a classic white Stephane Rolland dress. At the other end, Kerry Washington rocked a custom cut-out bustier dress with peekaboo slits by Brandon Maxwell and, worth a mention, still looked drop-dead gorgeous during her pregnancy.
Game of Thrones broke the record by winning 13 Emmy awards and the cast decked out for the celebratory occasion in style. Actress Sophie Turner shined in her new platinum plait matched with her black Valentino’s gown, and British beauty Emilia Clarke opted for a nude strapless dress from Atelier Versace that made her even sophisticated, if that’s possible.
Elsewhere, Empire actress Taraji P. Henson looked extra fierce in her citron-colour Vera Wang dress and natural curls; Sarah Paulson, famed for American Horror Story, stunned in a green Prada dress embroidered in variegated crystals and gems. And last but not least, the ethereal Kristen Bell looked fabulous in Zuhair Murad’s whimsical floral gowns.
The gentlemen weren’t left behind—most looked sharp in tuxedos, such as British actor Tom Hiddleston, Game of Thrones’ Kit Harington and television’s hottest actor and man of the hour, Rami Malek who wore a dashing white Dior tuxedo.
