The end of the year always makes key players in fashion industry cautious about how their brands will fare and compete in the coming year; fashion is, after all, one of the biggest industries in the world—especially with reports stating that 2016 has been one of the toughest years in the global fashion industry.
So the fashion houses and top designers are gearing up to make next year a better one with radical changes, both internally and externally, and adjusting to a new way of purchasing behaviour inspired by the digital advancements (the “see now, buy now” being one of them!).
But enough about that, because this month still brings tons of tantalising fashion news from around the world, and our job is to ensure that you’re always up to date with the latest fashion dose, both on the local and international scenes.

Chloë does Anderson
The actor and queen of hipster Chloë Sevigny was recently announced as J.W. Anderson’s new face. The ad campaign is for the brand’s SS17 campaign and was shot in artistic black-and-white by British photographer Jamie Hawkesworth, where the actress was seen posing on a stool flaunting the brand’s stunning collection and followed by a series of brightly colored sweaters.
Christian Dior’s new high street campaign
The house of Dior unveiled the ready-to-wear campaign for spring-summer 2017, the first collection under the new artistic director, Maria Grazia Chiuri. The creations, imbued with feminist values, are captured by the French photographer Brigitte Lacombe and embodied by the twin models Ruth and May Bell. The campaign forms part of a wider project: The Women Behind the Lens, a body of photographic work made exclusively by women delivering their personal vision of the collection.
Irina Shayk sizzles in Givenchy
French luxury fashion house Givenchy tapped Russian supermodel Irina Shayk for its latest seasonal ad campaign. The new campaign also featured Vittoria Veretti, Faretta Radic and Victor Perr posing behind a desert setting background and highlight Carine Roitfeld's styling that used the combination of utilitarian hues and veteran-like silhouettes.
Bobbi Brown says bye-bye
Earlier this week, American make-up maven Bobbi Brown has step down from her eponymous cosmetic line. The 59-year-old businesswoman stated that she is looking for a new adventure and will move on to a new venture. Owned by Estée Lauder since 1995, Bobbi Brown is known for its coveted goods like her Shimmer Brick, Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner, Eye Opening Mascara and many more.
Gucci’s animal spirit
Creative director Alessandro Michele did it again for Gucci! Known for his affinity of all things eccentric, Michelle took a walk on the wild side with the latest Gucci 2017 Spring ad campaign by featuring animals posing in stylish pose with the models. The ad was shot by Glen Luchford in Rome resulting 25-image campaign that includes many of the city’s famous landmarks. The ads will make its official debut on January 1st 2017.
Gigi Hadid bares it all
There is no stopping Gigi Hadid! For Stuart Weitzman’s spring 2017 campaign, the supermodel bares it all by only wearing the brand’s mid-calf Clinger boots in new satin finish. The ad campaign was taken by none other than Mario Testino who as expected made the “nude” picture looks tasteful in black-and-white image that celebrates the great femininity and style.
Selena Gomez’s $10 million deal
The singer who is also the most followed person on Instagram has signed a $10 million dollar deal with Coach to jointly design a line for the American label. Not just that, the singer will also appear in future campaigns as the new face of the brand. The 24-year-old singer has appeared in recent Louis Vuitton and Adidas ad campaigns along with being the spokesperson for Pantene.
Chanel’s 2017 Métiers d’Art show
The 2017 Métiers d’Art show was nothing if not elegant and, well, Parisian! Held at the Ritz Paris, the 2017 presentation featured variety of clothing that embodies the Parisian silhouette and construction. The creative director, Karl Lagerfeld, has stated that he drew inspiration from the evening dress that women used to wear to dine at The Ritz. The evening’s attire featured jackets, knitwear and tweed trousers and brought together several of the world’s hottest model to work the runway: Cara Delevigne, Sofia Richie and Lily-Rose Depp.
Sebastian Gunawan’s Marchesa Fashion Show
Renowned Indonesian designer Sebastian Gunawan held his annual spring/summer 2017 collection earlier this week at the Hotel Mulia Senayan. The fashion show, entitled "La Divina Marches", is a tribute to Marchesa Luisa Casati, Italian patroness of the art in the late 20th century.
The collection showcased 91 glamorous cocktail and evening gowns from his Sebastian Couture line featuring materials that ranged from lace to satin silk, and including Baroque-style embroidery, feathers, sequins and even crystals. The amalgamation of these elements translated into a luxury collection that dares to be bold while still holding an element of femininity. The collection was first presented during Paris Couture Fashion Week 2016.
Rinaldy A. Yunardi and Tex Saverio's Work at Victoria’s Secret
While the world waited with bated breath for the most-anticipated Victoria’s Secret 2016 show this year, one thing struck out the most: two talented Indonesian designers have been brought in to design the models’, or angels’, wings on the runway. Held at the Grand Palais, France, Rinaldy A. Yunardi and Tex Saverio presented black wings made from steel that resemble an inverted heart shape with abstract line designs. The duo worked on the special project for three months and the result was nothing short but astounding!
Piaget Holiday Season

Diesel’s Brand Project with Terry Richardson
This season is about to get raunchy. Diesel recently unveiled its new campaign shot by photographer Terry Richardson and called “50 Rules #forsuccessfulliving”. The campaign shows a series of 50 motivational phrases (we have selected three of our favourites) relating to the brand’s philosophy accompanied by blazing visual manifestations. The campaign will extend to fabulous events soon to be held in many fashion capitals, such as London, Milan and New York, along with #forsuccessfulliving exhibition and fashion shows.
Fashion Films Fever
Recently two major fashion houses launched new ad campaigns. First up is Saint Laurent’s Creative Director Anthony Vaccarello who released a short video, entitled #YSL04 - Evening Part 1, after launching its first campaign with Travi$ Scott. The short clip featured Vaccarello’s models, such as Freja Beha Erichsen, Cara Taylor, Jourdana Phillips and Josh McLellan, partying into the night. Showcasing the brand’s next menswear collection, the ad was shot by Collier Schorr in a sultry and engaging clip filmed in black and white.
Meanwhile, H&M collaborated with eccentric film director Wes Anderson for a special Christmas campaign featuring Hollywood actor Adrien Brody as a conductor who wants to spread some holiday cheer to his train’s passengers. We have the full-report here.
Fashion house Givenchy’s Creative Director Riccardo Tisci is set to introduce new childrenswear for the brand’s upcoming fall 2017 collection. With the brand having a long line of hardcore fans celebrities, from Beyoncé to Kanye West, sporting their precious ones in Givenchy, it’s about time that the fashion house will distribute it to the public. We can’t wait to look at the collection next year!
