Italian brand Dolce & Gabbana, which is renowned for its signature Sicilian style, is now wooing women in the Muslim world with the debut of its collection of luxurious abayas and hijabs. Well-heeled women from the Middle East now have the opportunity to flaunt the luxury label’s designs without topping them with their not-so-high-branded abayas.
While most of the collection is based on neutral shades of black and beige, the pieces also feature prints of Dolce & Gabbana staples, including flowers, fruit and polka dots, all constructed from delicate silks and trimmed with lace and satin.
Fashion-conscious women who prefer to dress conservatively to respect their religion will jump at the idea of wearing a full-length, sleeveless outer garment and a head covering designed by Dolce & Gabbana. Up to now, such women could only show their love for the high-end fashion brand by sporting its bags, footwear, sunglasses and other accessories.
Designer and co-founder of the Dolce & Gabbana label, Stefano Gabbana, also posted some of the images to his Instagram account to announce the launch of the embellished hijabs and abayas.
