Kors named his collection Opulent Restraint, which seems rather fitting for a US designer who has based his aesthetic on the jet set; it’s always stylish without trying too hard. Nothing is overly complicated; each piece is simple yet current when part of a total look or broken apart for mixing and matching. The designer went to opposite ends of the spectrum and explored the duality of the sexes with a bit of femme— queue the wool boucle skirt-suit and wallpaper-worthy florals—but also borrowed from the boys when it came time for suiting and footwear, with classic tartans coupled with Oxford mules. To tie it all together, Kors used fox furs, from his opening look of a full- on coat to more subtle accents on collars, sleeves and stoles.
