Given the rich heritage of Louis Vuitton, it is no wonder that Nicolas Ghesquière looked back
in time for his previous work, which often nodded to the silhouettes and patterns of the 1970s. But for this collection, showcased at the Fondation Louis Vuitton, Ghesquière was determined to move forward and explore the unknown. He equipped the intrepid Louis Vuitton traveller with oversized sheepskin coats (the opening looks) and boxy vanity cases. On the more feminine side of the spectrum, cape dresses were adorned with aquatic motifs or knitted peplum ensembles, all accented with low-heeled boots suitable for the urban explorer.
