With a number of talented Muslim fashion designers, as well as hijab fashionistas, who have grown in number rapidly throughout the years, it’s safe to say that Muslim fashion is seeing an all-time-high demand.

Remembering that it’s the holy month of Ramadan, we have handpicked eight of the most prominent fashion designers in Indonesia to inspire your Muslim fashion wear.

Anniesa Hasibuan

Anniesa Hasibuan opened her first boutique in Kemang, Jakarta, in early 2015. Shortly afterwards, she got the opportunity to showcase her work in London, Europe and even the US. Anniesa was the first designer to feature the hijab in her spring/summer 2017 collection at New York Fashion Week 2016. Prior to designing Muslim wear, she also founded a travel agent for hajj and umrah travels called First Travel together with her husband, Andika Surachman. Browse her latest collection here

Dian Pelangi

Young and talented are the ideal words to describe Dian Pelangi. As the founder of Dian Pelangi Fashion, her collection comprises not only hijabs, but also batik, bridal wear and a kids’ collection. Dian graduated from ESMOD Jakarta when she was just 18 years old and held her debut show during the Jakarta Fashion Week. Dubbed as a pioneer among local Muslim fashion designers, Dian has showcased her work in London, Paris, Germany, Holland, Melbourne, Dubai, Cairo, Kuwait and Jordan. Browse her collection here.

Zaskia Adya Mecca

Most people might know Zaskia Adya Mecca as an Indonesian actress and presenter, but perhaps not as an entrepreneur. Having established a hijab fashion brand called Meccanism in 2013 together with her siblings, Zaskia is a multifaceted lady. To date, she has opened 11 boutiques in Indonesia and has future plans to open more branches. Find more of her collection here.

Zaskia Sungkar

An actress, singer, entrepreneur and fashion designer, Zaskia Sungkar is young lady with a multi-faceted career on her hands. From opening a kindergarten school, being the Co-Founder of wokuwoku.com and an eponymous hijab fashion label, Zaskia also launched the sister line company KIA by Zaskia Sungkar in 2015, which focuses on ready-to-wear items. Jenahara Nasution

Jenahara Nasution is the daughter of veteran actress, singer and fashion designer Ida Royani, who started her premium Muslim label Jenahara back in 2011. She has built the label independently from scratch without any help from her mum. Recently, her latest collection, Jenahara Black Label entitled “Hinauli”, has been featured in Indonesia Fashion Week. Browse her latest collection here.

Ria Miranda

Did you know that Ria Miranda, the founder of the “riamiranda” label, was an Economics graduate before pursuing her education at ESMOD Jakarta? Ria began her career as a magazine fashion stylist before finally being a full-time designer for her own label. Now, she owns 18 House of “riamiranda” boutiques across Indonesia, and she has two distinct lines: Ria Miranda and Ria Miranda Signature. See her collection here.

Restu Anggraini

Restu Anggraini is a graduate of Jakarta State Polytechnic who then studied fashion at Phalie Studio and ESMOD Jakarta. Restu is known for her contemporary, modern, clean and modest designs. She started her own label in 2009, and currently she owns two labels: RA by Restu Anggraini and ETU, the premium label. Last year, she represented Indonesia at the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF) after winning the 2016 Young Indonesian Fashion Designer of the Year Award at Jakarta Fashion Week. Lulu Elhasbu

Lulu Elhasbu has a lot going on. She started her career as a model and fashion blogger, and then as a designer for her own label, Elhasbu, founded in 2013. Lulu is also the founder of Zaura Models Management along with being the Fashion Director of Hijabers Community. Her style is described as edgy and feminine, and this is the theme that she applies in her own ready-to-wear label.
