This season, we’re seeing throwbacks, upsizes, and cutbacks that will funk up your look. Let’s see what summer has brought to the table in this retro-centric era.
It seems only natural that we start with this accessory. Every 90s kid knows that chokers were as much loved as McDonald’s Happy Meals back then. Today, they are a much-coveted fashion piece that screams retro-cool vibes.
This jewellery trend is not for the faint-hearted—or the weak-eared. Not only do avid trendsetters wear statement earrings, sometimes they even wear only one piece. The fashion world is now more accepting of eccentric styles, so why not take advantage of this and show the world what you’ve got?
Cocktail Rings (Kova)
Similar to the previous trend, these cocktail rings can easily make your look unique. The appreciation of art and its integration with the fashion industry are slowly taking over. These rings are certainly artistic, so you can get ahead of the shift by slowly adding small pieces of art into your wardrobe, too.
Adam Selman’s retro sunglasses collaboration with Le Specs
Selman’s sunnies seem to be a hit among many. They pair up well with the industry’s tendency to bring back fashion pieces from the past. These retro sunglasses exuberate that 70s glamour like no others.
Gucci GG Marmont Matelassé Shoulder Bag in pink
The next must-have item on our summer fashion list is the Gucci GG bag in (very bright) pink. Think Legally Blonde meets Ariana Grande: you’ve got that bubblegum pink colour and the sexy-yet-cute feel that the singer possesses.
JW Anderson Pierce Bag
Is it just us or does this bag look like it has its nose pierced? This is probably why it’s called the pierce bag. We love its innovative and hip design and so should you! It’s also easy to open the bag since you can grab its big ring and simply pull.
Platform Oxfords (Stella McCartney)
All hail Stella McCartney! Who’d have thought that you can seem taller yet still be comfortable at all times. Aside from Chiara Ferragni’s espadrilles, these platform oxfords have taken the world by storm. They are casual yet stylish at the same time, so can be paired with almost any ensemble.
Loafers: Slides and Pointed
Calling all slides and pointed loafers! These flats show that shoes don’t have to have heels to be fabulous. The best thing that has happened these past few years is the dimming of the obsession with stilettos. We can now stand for hours and still look polished all the time.
The (Almost) Invisible Shoes
Introducing the invisible shoes: when Kim Kardashian West and Margot Robbie were spotted with almost entirely clear heels, we became obsessed with them. Yes, we just said that flats are forever, but we’ll make an exception for these shoes. If only there’s a way to make them more invisible, then we could be “walking on air”!
