As the Chairperson and Co-Founder of HAkA, Farwiza strives and fights for a stronger and healthier Leuser Ecosystem in her birthplace, Aceh. Currently a cultural anthropology doctorate candidate in the Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen, the Netherlands, she also has experiences working in a private company, the Parliament and other NGOs. Farwiza and her team are currently conducting a citizens’ lawsuit to revoke the Aceh Spatial Plan that threatens the Leuser with roads and oil palm elds. For her holistic approach in conservation through advocacy, community and protection, Farwiza received Future for Nature in 2017 and Whitley Award in 2016, among many more.
