Art Basel in Hong Kong just wrapped up its fourth edition. In between booth-hopping and admiring art, guests at Art Basel were also able to take the time to explore the VIP and collectors lounges to recharge their batteries or hold quick meetings.

One of these that was worth attention was the Audemars Piguet Collectors Lounge, which allowed visitors to immerse themselves in haute horlogerie at the booth, which was designed by New York-based Chilean award-winning designer and artist Sebastian Errazuriz.

Taking his inspiration from the ice formations and snowy landscapes at Audemars Piguet's home of Le Brassus, the new lounge expresses the clean purity of nature and the passing of time.

But this lounge wasn't the Swiss watchmaker's first showing at Art Basel. A participant since 2013, Audemars Piguet has presented lounge concepts in the Collectors Lounge at all three Art Basel Shows: Hong Kong, Miami and Basel.

Each year, Audemars Piguet invites a designer or artist to bring the village of Le Brassus in Vallée de Joux to life, and also prides itself over the design of their lounge. And so it was that for 2016, they picked Sebastian Errazuriz.

Located in the exclusive Art Basel Collectors Lounge, the theme of the stand is based on water and ice as its main thematic elements. This design is inspired by one of Sebastian's childhood memories of water dripping into a bucket, and the distinct natural rhythm that this caused.

This lounge features the concept of ice cycle as a metaphor of time, and a more spacious and luminous design language that resonates with contemporary creative energy.

The lounge also showcases exceptional visuals by photographer Dan Holdsworth, and boasts a soundproof room with unique custom-designed panels of icicles, stalactites and stalagmites. A timepiece chimes at the centre of the room, and along with a striking ice tank at the lounge's exterior, mimics the rhythm of a heartbeat.

Audemars Piguet once again lit-up the festivities at Art Basel Hong Kongthis year, with its new VIP lounge for the world's leading art and luxury watch enthusiasts and influencers. Congrats! For the video of the Audemars Piguet bespoke lounge at Art Basel by Sebastian Errazuriz, click here.
