Chef Gilles Marx and his wife, Ana, first met when both were on a night out with their group of friends. After two years of dating, Gilles proposed to Ana by straightforwardly asking her, without romantic frills, if she wanted to be his wife. “It was not a typical proposal,” reminisces Ana. The couple married in 2000, building a marriage that has its heart lies insincerity. “For me, it is all about trust,” says Gilles. “Even though we come from different backgrounds, we see in similar ways,” he adds. The couple, who have two teenage children, will, every now and then, spend time together holding date nights, even if it is as simple as sharing dinner. “It is important to put in a bit of spice so life and love does not become boring,” notes Gilles.
