Perched comfortably on one of the wooden chairs at a restaurant in her office building, ready to dig into her lunch, 28-year-old Nadia Saphira cuts a petite but charismatic figure. Perhaps this is because, even at her tender age, Nadia has already accumulated a lifetime’s worth of varied experiences.
She began her professional journey as an actress at the age of 15—a career move that lasted for a full seven years, during which she was also pursuing a degree in law studies at Pelita Harapan University (UPH). It was during her last semester at UPH that Nadia decided to quit acting and pursue a Master’s degree in law at the University of Westminster in the UK.
“I’ve always loved the idea of being challenged,” she tells us. “My father enjoyed studying law and legal matters so it was his enthusiasm that made me realise that law was what I wanted to master. I simply love challenges,” she adds.
Nadia began her career upon the acceptance of a job offer at the law firm OC Kaligis before moving to Lucas S. H. & Partners seven months ago, both of which are litigation firms. She is firm in her belief that the jobs ‘picked her’ upon graduation and not the other way round.
It should come as no surprise, with her intelligent mind and mature personality, that Nadia now specialises in civil and criminal law. She has been a working lawyer for a year and a half now and has had an extensive amount of experience. In approximately six months, Nadia will be granted her official license to practice.
