OGXL2428 copy.jpgRomy Soekarno is a man of passion. As the CEO of an energy company, he knows that running a business is not just about profits. The businessman takes only the most environmentally friendly actions in operating his company. Romy gives just as much care and attention to his two biggest passions outside of work: Aston Martin cars and batik.

Batik has been a part of Romy’s life since he was young and has played an integral role in family occasions. “Each piece of batik is handcrafted and comes with its own story, values, and philosophy. The amount of detail on batik can only be achieved by the most masterful of artists,” says Romy.

With this knowledge in hand, Romy started his own collection that represents himself, his interests, spirit, and goals. Wearing batik as a statement of who he is and what he is capable of, the car enthusiast keeps his collection of old batik in pristine condition, ensuring its longevity and everlasting legacy.

The other half of Romy’s collection started during the time he spent in the UK as a student who embraced the new culture fully. Along with it came his love for Aston Martin cars, such as the DB5 that Romy first saw in Goldfinger featuring Sean Connery.

Romy’s first Aston Martin came two years ago in the form of the Aston Martin Virage,  which features a 6-litre V12 engine that feels as smooth as silk even as it goes from 0 to 100km/h in 4.6 seconds.

When the DB11—the successor to the DB9—was released, Romy knew he had to add it to his collection. With various modes, the DB11 offers the best driving experience no matter the conditions, putting as much emphasis on luxury as it does on performance: the perfect balance of style and power.

“The car’s dash-to-axle ratio contributes to its powerful stance that can only be afforded by its rear-wheel drive, making for superb balance with a relentless engine that purrs with power,” explains Romy.

The newest addition to Romy’s collection is the Aston Martin New Vantage. In Romy’s words, it is a car that was created for a single purpose: to overwhelm the senses through its powerfully agile performance and dedicated craftsmanship. Powered by a 4-litre TwinTurbocharged V8 engine that goes from 0-100km/h in a mere 3.6 seconds, the car delivers a responsive and dynamic drive that is unrivalled by any other. Romy completes his Aston Martin driving experience by playing his favourite soundtrack from the Bond films: “Writing’s on the Wall” by Sam Smith. “It makes you feel like you are really Bond, driving a Bond car. It is truly a fascinating experience.”
