She bade farewell to the world of entertainment when she met her husband 22 years ago, but a love of fashion was formed in those early showbiz days, when every day brought a new set of designer clothes. “That was such a fabulous time in my life and I was offered some amazing outfits,” says Wang with a nostalgic smile. “After I had my two kids, we moved to Singapore for 11 years. During that period my friends and I were always going to balls and flipping through magazines to get inspiration on what to wear. That was when I really discovered what types of clothing suited me the best.”
Wang is a fan of European designers—Dior, Valentino and Lanvin in particular—but she maintains a very Taiwanese aesthetic. “I like simple elegance. I don’t like anything too complicated or showy because feeling comfortable is essential,” she says. “I think a classic approach to fashion is quite typical for women in Taipei. It’s a city that admires a timeless look—a look that suits your personality and your figure, rather than anything too outrageous.”
