In the midst of the tumultuous political scene ahead of the 2019 Indonesia presidential election, the incumbent Vice President of Indonesia Jusuf Kalla (JK) comes bearing joyful news. JK has a new addition to his family, as his newborn grandson was born in Jakarta on February 1 at 2.7kg and measuring 47cm long. Here, we bring you all the details.

The name

Those little tiny feet belong to Yusuf C. Noer. The proud grandfather stated that the name was taken from both the baby’s grandfathers’ names: Yusuf, from Jusuf Kalla; and C. Noer from the other grandfather. Deriving from the Arabian language, Yusuf means a son who is blessed by God, while Noer means bright.

15th grandchildren and second child

Baby Yusuf is the 15th grandchild of Jusuf Kalla and wife, Mufidah Miah Saad. On the other family’s side, baby Yusuf is the second child of Jusuf Kalla’s daughter Chairani Jusuf Kalla and her husband Marah Laut.

Special visitors

Baby Yusuf has only just turned a week old and already has received the most special visitor. Yes, President Joko Widodo, accompanied by First Lady Iriana Jokowi, paid a visit to JK’s latest grandson. Lucky baby Yusuf.
