Jacob Oetama

Jacob Oetama is one of the most noteworthy pioneers in Indonesian print journalism. Known nationally as the chief executive of the Kompas Gramedia Group and the owner of TV-7, he was a junior high school teacher before embarking on a journalistic career as a reporter. He graduated from the Jakarta Journalism Academy in 1959 and worked for Penabur and Intisari magazines. In 2003, he received an honorary doctorate in communications from Gajah Mada University.
