José Manuel Ramos-Horta is the current United Nations Special Representative and Head of the United Nations Integrated Peace building Office in Guinea-Bissau (UNIOGBIS). Previously, he was special envoy to fellow Lusophone country, Guinea-Bissau, and was the President of East Timor from May 2007 to May 2012. A seasoned politician, he completed his education in peace studies and human rights at various prestigious institutions such as St. Anthony’s College in Oxford in the UK.
