Khofifah Indar Pawaransa is the Minister of Social Affairs in the current cabinet under President Joko Widodo. Born in Surabaya on May 19, 1965, Khofifah is a Muslim activist in the largest Islamic organisation in the country, the Nahdlatul Ulama. She earned her Master’s degree in society and politics from the University of Indonesia.
