Nurmala Kartini Pandjaitan Sjahrir

Dr Nurmala Kartini Pandjaitan Sjahrir is one of Indonesian’s leading figures in International Relations. She was the Indonesian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary accredited to the Government of Argentina, Paraguay and the Oriental Republic of Uruguay from September 2010 until October 2014. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in anthropology from the University of Indonesia in 1976, her Master’s degree from Boston University in 1981, and her Doctorate degree in 1983. The mother of two also serves as the Chairwoman of the Indonesian Anthropological Association (AAI), Chairwoman of Ragunan Zoo Foundation, and was the founder of Suara Ibu Peduli.
