You’ve seen it all over Instagram–the picture-perfect plates and the rainbow-hued breakfast bowls, all set against a backdrop of rice fields, jungle or beach. Bali is home to some truly stunning cafes and restaurants that serve wholesome, soul-hugging plant-based–and totally photogenic– dishes, and we’re here to show you where to find them:

The Shady Shack

The Shady Shack is dressed up like the rustic beach house of your dreams and serves some of the best vegetarian cuisine on the Island of the Gods. If the weather is good—which it almost always is—plant yourself on one of the outdoor tables in the lush garden.

Otherwise, enjoy the shade indoors where you can stay close to their ever-changing but always delicious healthy dessert cabinet.

Shelter Café

Conveniently located upstairs from a Nalu Bowls shop, Shelter Café is an unassuming little oasis in the heart of Seminyak.

With views looking over a green field, enjoy lazy afternoons grazing on burgers with sweet potato fries, colourful salads, smoothie bowls and waffles smothered with fresh seasonal fruits. Sounds too good to be true? It's not. It's just Bali.

The Avocado Factory

If you're a fiend for a good avocado toast then this adorable eatery is the place to get your next hit. The Avocado Factory has a knack for turning breakfast favourites into works of art with their now-famous "Avocado Rose" that makes an appearance on toasts, salad bowls and more. Best of all, the perfectly creamy avocados used at the restaurant are all sourced on the island.
Peloton Supershop
Part vegan cafe and part artisan bicycle shop, Peloton Supershop is not your typical "hippie" Bali haunt. Combining industrial-chic interiorswith plant-based dishes that look and taste totally indulgent—like their famous cinnamon pancakes layered with coconut whip and nectar.

Not to mention their coffee is pretty great, too, and can be blended with their daily house-made nut milk or internationally sourced soy or almond milk.

It's all about culinary goodness with a conscience at Sprout, where much of the produce comes from The Garden Early Learning Centre's veggie garden right next door. Don't miss the cumin-spiced zucchini fritters, the picture-perfect smoothie bowls and their range of natural, unfiltered kombucha.

Sprout also works closely with Eco-Bali, which strives to reduce the amount of waste going to landfill and promote recycling and composting in Bali.
Tetsuo by Nook
Delicious Japanese-inspired vegan, vegetarian and pescatarian options abound at this lush restaurant, from hand-cut sushi rolls and poke bowls to a soul-hugging traditional Japanese breakfast platter.

If the tablewareyou're eating from catches your eye, head to the adjoining Nook store where they sell a stunning range of sustainable homewares.
Betelnut Café

Just a quick five minutes from Echo Beach is one of Canggu's original healthy eatheries. The menu at Betelnut Café is loaded with hearty plant-baseddishes, along with some omnivore-friendly options that keep in line with the chef's mission to create delicious food with dignity, using responsibly sourced as-fresh-as-possible ingredients.

Whether you head there for breakfast, lunch or dinner, this friendly beach shack always hits the spot.
