The Club Med family resort in Bali opened its doors to the masses in 1986. A few decades later, in 2014, the resort unveiled a fully renovated and modernised establishment, boasting state-of-the-art facilities and added activities.

With spectacular views of the Indian Ocean, and located just a few steps from Nusa Dua beach in a secluded premium location, this family-friendly stay claims to the only all-inclusive resort on the Island of the Gods.

To fuel up throughout the day, guests should indulge in the scrumptious multi-cultural buffet at the main Agung Restaurant. Here, diners have the option of choosing between Japanese, Korean, Indonesian, Chinese and Western food along with beverages including tea, coffee and juices, plus a wine list and cocktail options.

An à la carte selection is also available for guests wishing to dine after hours, including late breakfasts, late lunches, small bites, seafood dinners and late dinners at the resort’s gourmet lounge, The Deck.

As leisure options, the resort comprises three swimming pools. Located by the reception and just across from the Kintamani Bar is the main pool, which is usually packed with children and adults of all ages. In keeping with its family-friendly philosophy, there is also a separate children’s pool next to the main pool.

The newly developed Zen Pool, reserved for adults only, is set amid lush greenery overlooking the Indian Ocean, far away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the resort. The white and blue contrast of the pool chairs gives the area a chic yet lively ambience.

On the other side of the resort at Nusa Dua Beach, guests can enjoy free access to activities such as kayaking, snorkelling and beach volleyball. Others may prefer to treat themselves to a beach barbecue prepared by the resort’s expert staff known as “Gentils Organisateurs” (G.Os). Indoor activities are also available and include squash, tennis, table tennis, badminton, basketball, volleyball, futsal, and a fitness room.

Meanwhile, the main bar of the resort, Kintamani Bar, is home to some of the island’s best cocktails, such as the Bali Sling. The resort also serves a selection of home-grown Hatten Wines. Overlooking the gardens and the ocean, guests are welcome at the bar from 9am until 12am every night.

Themed differently every night of the week, Club Med is renowned for the spectacular shows performed by its G.Os. With an in-house stylist, costume artist and makeup artist, the multinational G.Os come together to showcase their outstanding talents on a regular basis. A party can easily unfold, followed by dancing on the beach club until well past midnight. Guests are able to enjoy drinks at Tupai Tupai, the beach bar located by the dance floor before a new day begins.

But the real strength of the resort is as a family getaway. While some of the above activities are definitely for adults only, the idea is that the resort offers something for everyone. That is, families can enjoy being under the same roof, but at the same time have the freedom of being able to do activities on their own.

The children’s clubs are led by G.O’s who have been specially trained to take care of kids up to 10 years old. The clubs include Baby Club Med, Petit Club Med, Mini Club Med and the Pyjama Club. Baby-sitting services are also provided by a third party upon reservation at an additional cost. Meanwhile, kids between the ages of 11 and 17 are able to join activities held by the Junior Club Med division and are supervised by G.O’s.

By providing something for all the family, all in one resort, Club Med Bali can truly lay claim to being one of the island’s only all-inclusive properties. And with an enviable location, it’s also one of Bali’s best.
