This year, we decided to spend our New Year’s holiday in the Big Apple. December has always been a busy month for us, so we didn’t have much time to plan for everything.

Our daughter’s birthday is coming up, so that would be an important part of our itinerary. It has been a while since we put an effort in organising any of our trips. As a Quintessentially member, we have our dedicated lifestyle manager book everything for us. They already know our tastes and preferences, so I am confident that we will have everything covered.

Since we are familiar with New York, we tell our lifestyle manager to search for “something hot right now” that is suitable for the family.

We were regulars at The Plaza and Four Seasons, but this time we wanted to experience something different. Turns out this boutique hotel in lower Manhattan is what’s hot at the moment, the lavish Beekman Hotel, just 500m from the Brooklyn Bridge.

It boasts spacious high-ceiling rooms decked with vintage furniture and aged oak floors. Temple Court, the in-house restaurant by celebrity chef Tom Colicchio, serves oldschool New York fare.

To get around easily and comfortably, Quintessentially booked us a Rolls-Royce Phantom throughout our stay. It came in pearl white—my daughter’s favourite colour. The chauffeur was well trained and very thoughtful—he took care of all the shopping bags, showed us rare tourist spots in the city, and gave us excellent recommendations. It was a very pleasant experience.
