Marriott International is inviting travellers from all around the world to discover heaven on earth, Belitung Island in Indonesia, at the newly opened Fairfield by Marriott Belitung. Situated in the prime location of Belitung Island, in the middle of Tanjung Pandan city, a 25-minute drive from H.A.S. Hanandjoeddin International Airport, the hotel boasts remarkable sunset views, a selection of local culinary delights, and the brand’s signature warm, inviting hospitality.
When it comes to the location, owner Jessica Venly is confident that she picked the right one. “It is conveniently located in the middle of the capital city, near Tanjung Pendam beach and not far from the airport. It is very strategic—the perfect location for a new hotel,” explains Jessica. Meanwhile, General Manager Joe Fijardo said: “Belitung tourism is really growing, and with the establishment of Fairfield, the first international hotel on the island, I am sure it will boost the tourism even more.”
Fairfield by Marriott, Marriott International’s second-largest brand, aims for one thing: delivering a stress-free stay. Fairfield guarantees this for all no-nonsense travellers who strive to maintain balance and momentum on the road. Fairfield also supports well-being and productivity, all at a great value, so guests never skip a beat. In addition, Fairfield promises to always make guests feel welcomed, to provide guests with a hotel that is clean, fresh, and which reflects the highest quality standards, and to always respond promptly to any needs guests might have.
The eco-friendly hotel, which marked its grand opening on March 3, provides a calming tropical retreat infused with local cultural experiences, allowing guests to explore and discover. “We use minimal aircon in the hallways. We want to bring a beach and resort feel,” says Jessica. Outside lie clean manicured gardens creating an alluring atmosphere that will transport guests to a tropical paradise.
The architecture was inspired by a traditional Rumah Panggung stage house surrounded by lush greenery with mesmerising sunset views from the rooms, the beach, and the poolside. Speaking of the reason behind the traditional architecture, Jessica states: “We want to emphasise Indonesian culture, not only modern living, modern lifestyle, and a metropolitan city—we want guests to experience our local culture.”
The five-floor property houses 125 guestrooms and 11 suites, which are flooded with natural daylight and which face the tranquil swimming pool and ocean. Each spacious guestroom and suite features a 43-inch LED HDTV, complimentary high-speed WiFi, comfortable beds, a rain shower, a dressing table, a sofa sitting area, as well as a generously sized bathroom. Amenities include coffee and tea maker, bottled water, mini fridge, alarm clock, and hair dryer.
Guests can start their day with international and local flavours for breakfast in the middle of a lively atmosphere thanks to the live cooking stations, plus scenic ocean views. A delectable buffet breakfast is served at all-day dining KAVA Restaurant, and visitors can choose from the range of Asian, Continental, and American dishes. “You have to try our authentic local dishes, the oxtail soup, and gangan ikan ketarap. Those are my favourites at KAVA,” suggests Jessica. KAVA, which also opens for lunch and dinner, has a private dining area for guests who want to host casual meetings and gatherings.
The live cooking stations create a bustling atmosphere for guests to see their meals prepared before their eyes and interact with the talented team of chefs. After breakfast, the restaurant serves as an extension to the Lobby Bar and transforms into an open, flexible space for work and relaxation. Guests can also unwind at SIMPUR Pool Bar, accompanied by refreshing drinks.
The contemporary Lobby Bar is a convenient space for casual meetings over flavoured iced teas, seasonal fruit juices, or Indonesian-inspired cocktails. For guests who are always on the go, The Market retail store presents a convenient and tempting selection of grab-and-go refreshments for both hotel guests and visitors.
Fairfield by Marriott Belitung also houses one of the largest lagoon swimming pools in the island. Guests can recharge by swimming laps outdoors while the little ones can splash away in the kids’ pool. A 24-hour gym always stays open to keep guests on track with their workout routines, and the hotel has a vast outdoor area that extends from the pool area, making it perfect for hosting outdoor weddings or parties with picturesque sunset views.
Guests can host gatherings or business meetings in three meeting rooms. There is the spacious 113sqm Pelenduk Room that is designed with a foyer that can be set up for coffee breaks or cocktail receptions. There are also the 54sqm Labi Labi Room and 57sqm Trenggiling Room, each of which is facilitated with a fixed board table. All meeting spaces are equipped with state-of-the-art audio and video technology, TV or projector connectivity, videoconferencing devices, wireless microphone, and high-speed Wi-Fi.
Guests can discover the untouched paradise of Belitung Island, which features the beautiful beaches, Tanjung Pendam, Tanjung Tinggi and Tanjung Kelayang. Nature lovers can also visit Kaolin Lake, the Beraye Waterfalls, and Batu Mentas Nature Reserve, which is home to the endangered tarsius monkey. Culture enthusiasts can explore colonial houses from the 19th century in the Manggar area or other historical places such as the Vihara Kwan Im Buddhist temple, Giri Jati Balinese village, and Maritime Museum.
With all the facilities that the hotel offers as well as excellent value for money, the Fairfield by Marriott Belitung guarantees a stress-free getaway in the heart of Belitung.
