Just last week, one of Indonesia’s outstanding hotels: Hotel Indonesia Kempinski Jakarta welcomed their new appointed general manager: Sjefke Jansen.

Jansen entered the industry working as a kitchen trainee in Germany in 1983. As his passion for hospitality progressed, he left Europe for Australia where he landed a job as the Assistant Restaurant Manager position in Sydney in 1989.

Jansen’s career flourished further as he found work opportunities around the world. From working in Cape Town to the Maldives and then to Singapore, Jansen has succeeded to managed 19 restaurants as the Food & Beverages Manager at Raffles Hotel. Later, in 2006, he acquired his first general manager position at the Oberoi Mauritius.

“I feel blessed to have been offered this position at the most iconic hotel in one of the most vibrant cities in Asia,” said Jansen, the father of three daughters. “I call Singapore home, but Jakarta is bursting with energy and passion and is always on the move, although it has a real heart and soul that reflects its fascinating history.”
