Indonesians should be proud. Earlier this year, popular travel website TripAdvisor named the tranquil town of Ubud in Bali as one of 2016 World’s Best Destinations. Now, the island itself made news by ranking first on the Asia’s Best Island list as part of its Travelers’ Choice Awards. Bali is also acknowledged as the fifth best island in the world, preceding Bora Bora in French Polynesia and Mauritius in Africa.

The good news doesn’t end there as there are two more Indonesian islands on the list. Lombok and Gili Trawangan were awarded fifth and sixth best islands in Asia, above Phuket and Ko Samui islands in Thailand.

The Travelers' Choice awards rank destinations determined by using an algorithm that selects and collates from millions of user reviews—based on quantity and quality of reviews and ratings for hotels, restaurants and attractions in destinations worldwide—over the course of one year.
