When Emilia Clarke isn't cloaked in a platinum wig while filming HBO's "Game of Thrones," the 29-year-old British actress has been known to lure the attention of some of fashion's most esteemed — and for young starlets, coveted — design houses. Clarke has stepped out in everything from Oscar de la Renta to Rosie Assoulin and Balenciaga to Dolce & Gabbana, but it's Dior to whom she and her stylist, Kate Young, keep returning for the red carpet.
The adoration, it turns out, is quite mutual: On Wednesday, the French fashion house announced that it had tapped Clarke as the new face of its Rose des Vents fine jewelry collection, marking her first campaign for a luxury brand. Photographed by Patrick Demarchelier, the two campaigns show Clarke looking fresh-faced and largely makeup-free, her naturally dark hair windblown in a wavy bob. In one image, an unbuttoned white shirt showcases yellow and gold necklaces from the line with diamonds, pink opal and mother-of-pearl accents; in the second, lapis lazuli and turquoise necklaces sit atop a black turtleneck.
The Rose des Vents collection, which launched in June, is Dior's first fine jewelry range to have a celebrity ambassador. Clarke is now the latest in a long line of Dior spokespeople, currently including Rihanna, Natalie Portman, Jennifer Lawrence, Charlize Theron, Marion Cotillard, Johnny Depp and Robert Pattinson.
