OMEGA’s “Manhattan” design was first introduced in 1982 and has since been considered as the very representation of OMEGA’s unparalleled ingenuity and sophistication in watchmaking. Now, almost four decades later, OMEGA has revived the collection to create a more modern appeal, and thus hosted an event for the relaunch at Shanghai’s phenomenal Expo I–Pavilion with its four most esteemed brand ambassadors: Cindy Crawford, Nicole Kidman, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Liu Shishi.
In the spirit of this special event, the four ambassadors were all clad in red dresses and wore a 28mm timepiece crafted with Australian white opal dials and 12 baguette-cut ruby indices from this new collection. The muses, Cindy, Nicole, Alessandra, and Shishi expressed their support for OMEGA and their timepieces at the event, describing this particular collection as “timeless” and “elegant”. Alessandra even went on to say: “It has history and style, and it’s a watch that never loses its charm. That’s the sign of a truly great design.”
Accompanying these ravishing ladies was President and CEO of OMEGA Raynald Aeschlimann. Together, they posed as the faces of the brand, an embodiment of the elegance and excellence of the Constellation “Manhattan” collection.
The appeal of the Constellation “Manhattan” Collection lies within the retention and enhancement of the original design’s most famous features, combined with new progressive styles fit for a modern clientele. This revamped collection will feature more than 100 new pieces, each representing several understated improvements to preserve the classic look. This includes slim bezels, beveled edges for a touch of refined femininity, and the iconic “claws” that now cling decorously to the case. The models also cater to a wider variety of customers’ desires with an increased choice of dial colours and case sizes to choose from.
The presentation and venue of the event were no less luxurious or captivating than the timepieces themselves. Taking inspiration from the title of the collection, the hall was adorned with a beautifully crafted backdrop of white and gold that replicated the Manhattan skyline. As for entertainment, pianist Stephen Ridley topped off the evening with a musical performance, which was followed by OMEGA’s presentation of its advertising campaign for this collection, featuring the aforementioned ambassadors. All the while, invitees had the chance to peruse the new watches that were kept on display.
