A partnership between SIHH And Baselworld, two legendary major watch expos, are finally back. They have agreed a four-year contract to synchronise their dates starting from 2020 until 2024. Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) reveals it will hold its show from April 26 to 29 in Geneva. Meanwhile, Baselworld will hold its show from April 30 until May 5 in Basel, right after SIHH.

This is both rare and exciting news, because their collaboration is an almost-unbelievable breakthrough to happen in the watch industry. “Our two events have always been different, yet complementary,” said President and Managing Director of the Foundation de la Haute Horlogerie Fabienne Lupo. “Resynching with Baselworld will further confirm Switzerland as the foremost destination for watchmaking in the world. This is something we welcome wholeheartedly, as it is in the interests of all.’ he added.

“Baselworld and SIHH are working for the industry and its clients,” said Michel Loris-Melikoff, Managing Director of Baselworld. “We have sought dialogue with SIHH and together have found a solution that benefits visitors, the media, and the entire watchmaking industry enormously. This partnership between the two most prominent exhibitions in the industry represents a major breakthrough for the future.”

The collaboration means visitors and the media do not have to travel from Basel to attend Baselworld first then go to Geneva to attend SIHH, which is highly inconvenient. Now, editors and retailers can attend both expos without taking a long trip.
