Admirers and collectors of Rolex’s nautically themed timepiece will be delighted with the new Oyster Perpetual Yacht-Master 42. Created from 18 ct white gold, this watch heralds the arrival of this precious metal on a Yacht-Master model. The piece features a bi-directional rotatable bezel fitted with a raised 60-minute graduated matte-black Cerachrom bezel insert, which is complemented with raised gradations and numerals that are first moulded into the ceramic and then polished.
On the dial, a Chromalight display containing longlasting luminescent material that glows bright blue in dark environments ensures high visibility in all circumstances. The dial is protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, with the Cyclops lens at 3 o’clock, magnifying the date display for easy reading. Powering the watch is Rolex’s stateof- the-art calibre 3235—a first for the Yacht-Master range.
The calibre 3235 is a self-winding mechanical movement that incorporates the super-efficient Chronergy escapement. Made of nickel phosphorus, the movement is insensitive to magnetic fields and is extremely durable.
Thanks to its barrel architecture and the escapement’s superior efficiency, the watch has a power reserve of approximately 70 hours. Meanwhile, the screw-down winding crown is fitted with Rolex’s Triplock triple waterproofness system, so the watch is waterproof up to 100 metres. The Oysterflex bracelet and Oysterlock folding safety clasp on this new model singularly combine the robustness and reliability of a metal bracelet with the flexibility, comfort and aesthetics of an elastomer strap. Sleek and distinguished, the Yacht-Master 42, like the rest of the Yacht-Master range, celebrates the ties between Rolex and the world of sailing.
