While our city roads with all the traffic jams shatter dreams of driving like the wind with the top down, but there's no reason why you can’t dress the part. And here are our picks of automotive-inspired watches that will make you feel like you’re pushing 100km/h in a 70km/h zone.

First up is the Breitling Bentley GMT B04 S Carbon Body chronograph. The watch, initially produced in titanium, now has an even lighter case and dial made in carbon but stays true to its original Bentley-inspired design.

Focusing on another automotive classic, Parmigiani Fleurier this year introduced the extravagant Bugatti SuperSportSapphire. Its movement is made completely in gold and is encased entirely in sapphire, giving an unobstructed view of its luxurious inner workings. The time is displayed on the front at a 90-degree angle—great for checking the time with your hand on the steering wheel.

The Mille Miglia GTS Automatic Speed Black, meanwhile, is the newest member of Chopard’s Mille Miglia GTS collection. The watch is rich in classic racing references, such as the red Rosso Corsa detailing, oversized numerals echoing 1950s dashboards, and a strap with a vintage Dunlop racing tyre tread.

Another homage to classic racing is the Tag Heuer Monza. First created in 1976 to celebrate Niki Lauda’s first world championship title with Ferrari, the watch was reissued earlier this year. Save for the new pulsometer and tachymeter scale features, its aesthetics stay true to the original.

Designed with the racing car aficionado in mind, Zenith’s El Primero 36’000 VpH Classic Cars watch is given a stylish dial with counters in the original anthracite, blue and light grey colours.

Last but certainly not the least is a Graham chronograph inspired by Britain’s historic Silverstone racetrack. The Silverstone RS Racing chronograph features a dial that looks like the dashboard of a racing car and comes with tyre tread rubber straps.

Take your pick and add oomph to your city driving.
