As we all know, Hermès is a French fashion luxury brand that specializes in leather goods, accessories, home furnishings, fragrance, jewellery, watches and ready-to-wear. Named after the Greek God, Hermès is widely known for its iconic handbags such as the Birkin Bags, which has been many A-list celebrities and upper class society’s most adored handbags.
Hermès, with its rich heritage, is a beacon and inspiration for many designers, especially in Paris. For its Spring/Summer 2018 collection the main theme was checks pattern. Many looks were seen with various kinds of checks; for instance, madras-style squares and picnic blanket style squares. The new collection consists of mainly slim and narrow structure of pantsuits, coats and tight mid-length dresses. Also, some of the looks had the signature Hermès Grand Manège scarf prints, which we absolutely love!
What distinguishes Hermès from other brands is indeed its craftsmanship, which is a very important aspect in the French culture. Instead of manoeuvring with the signs and symbols of late-bourgeois heritage alike to many designers in her generation, Hermès’ Creative Diretcor, Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski, chose to incorporate her own obscure ideas of patterns, colours, and silhouettes as seen in collections after collections. And, of course, it’s simply stunning Spring/Summer 2018 collection is no less different.
