Daniel Mananta made it as one of our Gen.T listers this year, we mean how could he not! With his friendly personality, charming looks and indescribable hosting skills, Daniel has it all. Daniel started of his career at MTV Indonesia in 2003 and has come a long way since then.

During our Gen.T 2018 launch party at Immigrant Dining Room last Friday, we caught up with the always-humble Daniel and talked about Gen.T and his works, among others. Here’s an insight into his world!

How do you feel to be a part of the Gen.T 2018 list?

It’s definitely an honour for me to be a part of Gen.T 2018’s list, especially with the other guys who make a very significant impact for Indonesia. These guys aren’t just rich, famous but also very impactful. These guys have managed to create a very positive impact for Indonesia and to be one of the many listers with them is definitely an honour.

Do you have a message for the other honourees?

Being in the same group as them is such an honour. Meeting them and being able to collaborate with them as well. Collaboration has always been in our blood. I feel privileged that Indonesia Tatler helps us get together to collaborate as a community. It is also great that Indonesia Tatler is working as a leader for the rest of the Asia Tatlers.

Thank you! So, what are you working on right now?

I’m currently producing a movie which is based on the biography of Susi Susanti. We haven’t officially announced it to the public, but the shooting starts on the 20th of August, 2018, next week.

Are you getting into the world of producers?

Yes, this is my second time producing a movie. My first one was titled Killers, which involved a lot of action sequence. We worked together with Japan and made it to the Sundance Film Festival. So, as a producer, I thought of doing something different, perhaps something more family-friendly, which led to producing a film based on the life of Susi Susanti.

What else are you currently working on?

Indonesian Idol Junior! I’m hosting the little kids version of Indonesian Idol [Laughs].

Will you be involved in the upcoming Asian Games 2018?

Yes, we do have a booth selling Damn! I Love Indonesia merchandise. We are supporting the Asian Games thoroughly because as an Indonesian, I’m so proud that the 18th Asian Games is taking place in Indonesia.
