Clad in black ensemble and sunglasses, Suherli shows up at the venue, ready for our photo shoot. He brings along two of his Aston Martins: the two-door V12-powered DB11 Coupe in magnetic silver and the four-door Rapide S Coupe in midnight blue. Surrounded by motorbikes, the sexy beasts steal everyone’s attention in the parking lot.
“My first Aston Martin was the Rapide in 2011. Sadly, it got flood-damaged, broke down, and had to be repaired. Eventually, last year I bought the new V12-powered DB11, and I decided to trade-in my 2011 Rapide with the new 2015 Rapide S,” Suherli says. The DB11 is powered by an all-new 5,204cc twinturbocharged V12 engine called the AE31, which is fitting for a James Bond car, while the Rapide S is powered by a 5,935cc V12 engine with a new eight-speed Touchtronic III automatic transmission.
Suherli, who admires the functionality and the design of Aston Martin, regularly uses both of his cars for daily use to the office on the weekdays. When heading to the office, he drives the DB11, while the Rapide S is mostly used when he goes out with his family on the weekends, because it fits up to four people.
“What I love about Aston Martins is the front grille and the rear body,” says Suherli, the former director of PT Sinarmas Sekuritas. After 28 years, the father of three has recently decided to enjoy his retirement.
Besides Aston Martins, Suherli admits that he is passionate about luxury and vintage sports cars and motorcycles. For motorcycles, Harleys sit on top of his collection. In addition to owning an official Harley dealership—Anak Elang Harley-Davidson of Jakarta—Suherli is also the director of the Harley Owners Group (HOG) Anak Elang Jakarta Chapter Indonesia, and often acts as the road captain during HOG motorcycle touring activities.
