Dream is a wish your heart makes” goes the song from Cinderella, and so it is that the Explorer Dream cruise vessel brings your heart’s desires to life. Inside, among its 928 state rooms, are the Palace Suites, Deluxe Suites, Penthouses, and Villas—each with its own service of Dream Butlers and the use of additional, deluxe private facilities. Dubbed as a “ship-within-a-ship”, the most luxurious of these, the Palace, comes complete with its own pool and sundecks just outside the Palace Restaurant: a semi-buffet fine-dining concept serving up both Eastern and Western fare.

There are a total of three other restaurants and six specialty eateries inside the Explorer Dream, plus eight bars, lounges, and cafés scattered throughout the ship. In between meals, guests are free to ask the concierge to help arrange offshore excursions while the ship is docked, or maybe take the kids to swim at the Parthenon pool with its giant Caesar’s Slide while the ship is sailing. There are plenty more family activities to be enjoyed, be they for the kids at the Little Dreamers’ Club, or for active teenagers who will love the augmented-reality games and other pastimes at the Zone and the ESC Experience Lab.

For more relaxing experiences, bands strike up tunes both indoors and outdoors by the pool, while the opulent Zodiac Theatre presents Broadway-style shows. Special for Palace guests, there is access to The Connoisseur Circle, which is a series of curated events and inspirational talks by world-class speakers such as Grace Chen, China’s own couturier, whose designs have been worn by movie stars and political figures alike, and who had her “Voyage” collection specially showcased at the Palace pool during the ship’s debut launch and christening in April. Grace is the Explorer Dream’s godmother: a unique tradition from the Genting Cruise Lines family alongside the traditional breaking-of-champagne ceremony at launch.

This third and newest addition to the Dream Cruises’ fleet is now set to sail out of Shanghai to destinations as near as Japan, Hong Kong, and Vietnam, and as far afield as Australia and New Zealand starting in October.
